Anyone can feel confident when things go right. Self-trust is what's left when they don't.

In oncology, palliative care, hospice, emergency medicine, and the ICU, you're expected to bear someone's worst day, then go home and cook dinner as if nothing happened. That's not work-life balance. That takes a self-trust most advice was never built for.

What's at stake if nothing changes

  • She wakes up exhausted, even on the rare night she gets eight hours. Sleep was never going to fix this kind of tired.
  • Resentment runs on a loop at work: the paperwork, the patients she's asked to take on because the unit is short-staffed. Screw this. I'm better than this. Why am I even working here? These people don't love me back.
  • At home, she's distracted. Replaying conversations she could have had differently, patient needs she couldn't meet because of a broken system. She's reactive with her kids, snapping or avoiding them because she can't absorb one more thing.
  • She pours a glass of wine before she's even through the door and tells herself that's normal. The meal she planned feels like too much effort, so the kids get chicken nuggets and she eats crackers standing at the counter. She can't remember the last time she exercised. Her shoulder aches, her back aches, she's winded after half a flight of stairs.
  • The future feels hopeless. She fantasizes about the day she gets to walk away from this system entirely, and secretly wonders if she'll survive long enough to get there, or if she'll be too broken down to enjoy it when she does.
  • Even if she has the option to leave, she carries a quiet grief: I could have done something amazing. I could have really helped people. I feel like I failed to actualize my potential.
  • And if she has a daughter, there's one more layer: Is this the life I want her to see? Am I modeling the health, the boundaries, the wholeness I'd want for her?

Do You Feel like, a shell of your former self

01 Exhausted even after 8 hours of sleep. You dread going to work. You feel numb, detached, and guilty for feeling anything at all.

02 It's impossible to switch off after a shift. You rehash every loss, every death, every hard case in your head.

03 You're irritable with the people you love. You have a constant knot in your chest, a tight jaw, and shallow breathing.

04 You feel like you are "on" all the time and never truly rest. And underneath it all, you feel guilty for wanting to take care of yourself.

WHAT IF...

It Didn't Have

TO BE THAT WAY?

What if you could go from being "the strong one who never needs anything" to "the woman who knows her worth and takes care of herself."

What if there was a way out of being a caregiver who gives until she's empty. A way to be a woman who can care for others because she first cares for herself.

What if going sideways didn't have to mean losing yourself? What if you could feel the ground shift and still know, I've got me?

INTRODUCING

SELF TRUST SCHOOL

The place for high achieving women in medicine and healthcare to find the ground beneath their feet again.

After so many years of striving and trusting the system to reward your efforts, it is time to decide that trusting yourself is more important. Healthcare and the world in general are chaotic and we can't fix most of it. When we have a strong foundation of self trust we can operate from responsivenes, not reactivity.

HEY I'M

EMMA JONES

I want you to know I have lived this from the inside.

I'm a pediatric oncologist turned palliative care specialist turned hospice physician. I have spent years at the bedsides of dying children and adults, supporting families in their most devastating moments, and holding space for things most people can't even bear to think about.

I also burned out. Quietly, thoroughly, and in ways I didn't recognize until I was already deep in it.

What I found on the other side is that the path back isn't about self-care routines or setting better limits. It's about fundamentally rewiring the relationship between your compassion and your sense of self. I've spent years building this into a methodology that I can easily give to others.

That's the work I do. And it works because I built it from the inside of the very life you're living.

What You're Going To Get

3 SIMPLE MONTHLY PRACTICES

We practice letting go and widening the space between stimulus and response. Each month you will get 3 new practices all specifically designed to accelerate your well-being without requiring hours each day.

01  YOGA

Doctors who hate yoga haven't been practicing yoga, they've been practicing performance. If you think yoga is about being bendy or nailing the perfect headstand, you have good reason to hate it. The yoga taught here is the full eight limbs of Patanjali's yoga. The goal of yoga is to still the fluctuations of the mind. We do it through movement, breathwork, and philosophy.

The principles of yoga are woven through everything taught here because they're woven through every part of who I am. The mat was my first gateway out of burnout, and it's my consistent gateway back to myself every time life knocks me off course.

Asana practice, the physical postures of yoga, is what you'll do here: thirty minutes on the mat each month. In the traditional eight limbs, one practices asana to calm the body and prepare for meditation or deeper contemplation, like getting your yayas out before you sit down to read. The other reason is pragmatic. In our modern world and busy careers, we build up tension and pain. Restorative movement that returns the body to function is part of rebuilding self-trust. The body is a source of wisdom and grounding, but most of us have learned to hate our bodies or tune them out. The mat is where we renegotiate a better relationship.

02
 MEDITATION

Meditation is evidence-based and widely accepted as a tool to improve concentration, happiness, and success. Performance athletes use it. Top CEOs use it. Special Ops units use it. Every high-pressure, high-performance sector looks to meditation as a tool for excellence.

But so many women in medicine tell me it just doesn't work for them. Or they tried an app and couldn't stick with it. Again, we're back to performance. You stopped practicing because you judged the quality of your meditation. You decided you weren't "good at it," by which you meant you didn't immediately achieve a state of blissful nirvana on the cushion. As someone who has struggled with all of this, and who has had the privilege of working with some of the best meditation teachers in the world, I can tell you: none of that is meditation.

Meditation is included in STS to dismantle these beliefs. Each month you'll have a short practice built around overturning one of them: meditation is complicated, it's boring, I'm bad at it, I hate sitting, my back hurts, this isn't for me. If you practice STS meditations for a year, you may not love meditation. But you'll have an appreciation for its role in modern life. It's the essential antidote to the onslaught of stimuli we face daily. It's the way to restore your attention span. It's the mechanism for clearing your mind of garbage. When I sit, I like to think I'm taking out the mind trash. It's not a glamorous chore, but it's essential to keep the house clean.

03
 COACHING

Coaching is a word that gets thrown around a lot these days. Everyone's a coach, it seems. So what do I mean when I say you'll get coaching as part of STS?

I mean a system of thought work: asking great questions, exploring what we think and why we think it, learning new paradigms and frameworks and applying them to understand ourselves further. I primarily coach from the iPEC school of Core Energy Coaching, which works with the seven energy levels as its central paradigm. I also draw on NLP and hypnosis to work with the subconscious mind.

Each month, you'll get a short didactic session to learn that month's framework, a worksheet to guide your own self-exploration, and a live Zoom session to go deeper. Or drop into the community forum and let the collective wisdom help you brainstorm or spot a blind spot. STS isn't about hours of talking through your specific circumstances. It's about learning a new way to approach them.

  No Risk, Just Solid Ground

Cancel anytime, no questions asked. If Self Trust School isn't giving you what you need, you can walk away whenever you want. No guilt, no hoops, no hard feelings. That's not a marketing line, it's the whole point of this work: you get to trust yourself enough to know what's right for you, and act on it.

Imagine Trusting Yourself Like This

You believe in yourself as someone who can accomplish anything you set your mind to. You trust that you can weather any storm, not because storms won't come, but because you know you're the kind of person who gets through them. You trust yourself enough to sit with discomfort instead of numbing it away. You trust yourself to have the hard conversation, to make the tough apology, to say the true thing even when it's uncomfortable.

You're ready to fly, because you've finally found solid ground beneath your feet. And you trust yourself enough to try, again and again, because you know that ground will always be there to return to.

This is what Self Trust School builds: one month, one practice, one small rep at a time.
