And as a hospice and palliative care physician, I know what burnout and compassion fatigue can feel like. I also know what regret looks like and the sadness faced by my patients who are coming to the end having neglected connection and relationships.


Our children and close family often pay the price our our burned-out and overworked state. We owe it to them to recover so that they get the best of us, not just what's left.


I don't want any of my fellow women in medicine to have regrets or feel that they missed out on those meaningful connections that are so deeply human.
