Contemplating death makes us more aliveĀ

In this weekend retreat we will dive deep into contemplation of death.Ā

  • What happens when we die (physical, spiritual, existential)Ā
  • How can we prepare ourselves and our loved ones
  • How witnessing death changes usĀ
  • Momento mori and celebrating the impermanence of all things as the secret for a life well lived
  • Philosophical and religious teachings about deathĀ
  • The challenge to discern: What do I believe? Is it true? Why do I believe it? What would be true without that belief?Ā

We will spend the weekend at a retreat center in VT allowing the rhythms of nature in late summer serve as an anchor for our contemplation.Ā  Time and space away from the distractions of the world allow for a full exploration in mind, body and spirit in community with others who have also chosen to dedicate the time to this practice.Ā

Your host, Emma Jones, weaves together her experiences as a hospice and oncology physician, family caregiver, student of philosophy, and cancer patient herself to guide the discussion. We will use various embodied practices such as yoga and breathwork to access the layers of this discussion that lie beyond our cognitive minds.Ā
